President

Cormac Ramsey

Email: ramsec2@rpi.edu

Bio:

A little known fact about me: Mac is short for Mac n’ Cheese, and I’m the best thing since sliced bread. I think a goldfish cracker with a tiny piece of sliced cheese and lettuce inside it is a sandwich. Some people call me chef Ramsey, but there’s not enough for two of us in the world. Gordon’s got to go. When I’m not straight sending it down some rapids you can find me kicking some (hacky) sacks with my pals. Also, I can identify almost any plant species in the Northeast; I love plants (I'm an environmental engineer after all)! If you don’t see me eating ginkgo leaves at any point in the year, then something is wrong and I need help. My favorite piece of outdoor clothing is a vest, but not on me ;).

Things I hadn't tried before joining ROC:

  • Ice Climbing
  • Caving
  • Whitewater Kayaking

My favorite thing about the club:
  • Finding new river friends.
Fun Facts:
  • I can identify nearly every tree in the Northeast US.

Vice President

Paul Mayol

Email: mayolp@rpi.edu

Bio:

Yo yo yo this is Paul — Vice President, but, more importantly, the only 46er on your Ecomm! When I’m not bagging peaks or hangin’ out with my plants, you can find me dumpster diving and skate boarding around campus cuz I’m sicker than you. Real talk though, Outing Club is my favorite thing about RPI, and if you ever get a chance to go hiking with me, get ready to pet some dogs and learn all about the high peaks.

Things I hadn't tried before joining ROC:

  • Everything, I don't think I stepped outside before ROC.

Fun Facts:
  • I am an ADK 46er
  • I have hiked the NPT
  • I am a Lake George Ultra 12ster
  • These are the only accomplishments of my life

Secretary

Ariana Gerdis

Email: gerdia@rpi.edu

Bio:

Hello everyone, my name is Ariana, your secretary, and I am the most charismatic person in the outing club! My favorite thing besides being in the Adirondacks is talking about them. Nothing sparks joy like prancing through the ADKs with the energy of an unwalked border collie. My goal for 2020-2021 is to spread maximum enthusiasm and maximum chaos like there’s no tomorrow. I’ve got a real pension for convincing people to come on my trips, like that time I got two of them to walk 133 miles with me, or that time I got 8+ people to camp in the fall and sunrise hike Indian Head. They all had type 1 fun though (if you don’t know what that is, please ask me. I love explaining and giving examples of the types of fun). Lastly, I say I'm vegan, but not on this mountain.

Things I hadn't tried before joining ROC:

  • Ice Climbing
  • Caving
  • XC Skiing
  • Winter Mountaineering

Favorite thing about Outing Club:
  • The friends I've made! I've met really interesting people and learned a lot of technical skills from other leaders in the club.
Fun Facts:
  • I am an ADK 43er
  • I have hiked the NPT
  • I am a Lake George 12ster
  • I'm vegan
  • These are the only accomplishments of my life

Treasurer

Ben Urbanski

Email: urbanb@rpi.edu

Bio:

Howdy Campers, my name is Ben and I’m your treasurer. I am one of two tall guys in the officers with long luscious hair. As a nutmegger, driving is my right of passage. During the winter you can often find me doing sick donuts in uninhabited parking lots with my superior manual car (RIP my first love, the Ranger). I adore all things snow, and i'll do any outing club activity involving snow. If you can’t find me in the snow, you can find me in one of two places. One, a dark secluded area underground with no sunlight or fresh air - the Pit. Or two - a Cave. Either way, join me and I'll teach you everything you need to know about the outing club. Yeee-Haw!

Things I hadn't tried before joining ROC:

  • Caving
  • Whitewater anything
  • Ice Climbing

My favorite thing about outing club:
  • The Pit

Fun Facts:
  • I like frozen water in every form
  • I make maple syrup

Pit Chair

Julia Meissner

Email: meissj@rpi.edu

Bio:

Heeyo, guys it's Julia (or Olga if you'd prefer) your Pit Chair!! In my book, a trip isn't official unless it involves scalding hot chocolate or fruit snacks. I think running is kinda gross but you might find me cruising around campus on my slick 18 speed. When it comes to pets, dogs are the best, except maybe cows..., so my first order of business will be getting a ROC dog. Join me in the basement of the armory and I'll show you the Pit, but if you want gear you have to go through me first. (On a side note, I am offering twelve Schmeckles to anyone that can get their hands on some kinder pingui)

Things I hadn't tried before joining ROC:

  • caving
  • ice climbing
  • sleeping in a hammock ... in the cold

Favorite thing about outing club:
  • trying new things
  • pit
  • you guys !!!

Fun Facts:
  • I don’t own a helicopter

Cairn Editor

Elena Perez

Email: pereze4@rpi.edu

Bio:

Hiiiiiiiii, I'm Elena, your CAIRN EDITOR! I'm from the state of Washington, so you know what that means... it's always Chaco season, babyyyyyy. I love climbing, cross country skiing, hiking, and my favorite— organizing events and not showing up to them. WRITE FOR THE CAIRN!™ or I WILL get the bat!!!!

Things I hadn't tried before joining ROC:

  • XC Skiing
  • Rock Climbing
  • Ice Climbing
  • Mountain Biking
  • Caving
  • Winter Mountaineering

Fun Facts:
  • The day before I left for college my dad told me to be careful and not get hurt. The 3rd day of orientation I ended up in Samaritan Hospital because I accidentally jumped on a rock and split my knee open and had to get 5 stitches. Maybe if you come on a rafting trip down the Hudson I can point out which rock it was.

Member at Large

Reagan Wilcox

Email: wilcor2@rpi.edu

Bio:

Hey guys, it’s Reagan, your Member at Large. I dress my dog in scarves for the chilly winter months, when I’m ice climbing and mountaineering. And when it gets warmer, I paddle while my dog sits in a chair and watches from the shore with a lemonade and a newspaper. My favorite activities include ice hockey soccer, or Hocker, and wearing my flannel to meetings.

Things I hadn’t tried before joining ROC:

  • Ice Climbing
  • Winter Mountineering
  • Caving
  • Rafting
  • Hammocking

Fun Fact:
  • I joined the outing club without any knowledge of the sports we do
